Joel Ray, Chairman and CEO of Coast to Coast
Vision Plan, began his career in the health care field immediately
upon graduating from the University of Texas with a B.A. degree in marketing
in 1974. Mr. Ray went to work full time for Associated Optical, which
was incorporated in 1956 by his father. From 1974 through 1984 he was
involved in every aspect of the optical laboratory business, including
the manufacturing of eyeglasses, customer service, inventory control,
data processing and responsibility for marketing and sales. In 1984, Mr.
Ray became Chairman and CEO of Associated Optical and in 1986 he formed
Total Ophthalmic Professional (TOP) Network which received excellent reviews
in several major publications such as Forbes and Business Week.
